Our Portrait of a Learner fits nicely with remote learning. Even in these difficult times, we need to look at this struggle as an opportunity. Remote learning is providing you with opportunities to become a better learner, specifically a
Self-Directed
Learner. This is your chance to improve in this area! Take a good look at the list. Refer to it when you are struggling. Remote
learning helps you become a self-directed learner in these ways:
You are in control of your learning.
You learn to problem-solve on your own.
You don't give up, but know when it’s time to reach out for help.
You read directions carefully.
You use all sources provided by the instructor.
You seek additional sources to problem solve.
You use textbooks as a resource by reading.
You have more time to investigate a topic.
You become inquisitive about learning.
Three years from now you may be looking at post-secondary options which could include online courses. In the next few weeks you should take advantage of this valuable opportunity to learn how to work in this environment.
Remember to refer to this list when you struggle in any of your classes and please reach out if you need help.
