Good Morning,

I’ve heard several comments from staff members this week such as, “This senior class is leading the school in such a positive manner, this year the students are in such great spirits, they’re asking high level questions, and many more positive comments. One comment from one of our new teachers was, “I can’t believe that these students will hold the door for you and even say hello when they do not know me”. These small gestures go a long way. I hope this continues as it’s been a really great start this year.

I hope you join us today as the student-athletes compete on Homecoming. Here’s the most up to date schedule. Don’t forget to bring a canned good to Tackle Hunger for our local community.

We provide a number of supports for our students. We hope that they take advantage of these.

Wednesdays w/Mrs. Twombly  2:20-3:20pm

Last week I shared the outstanding Advanced Placement data. This week I’d like to highlight how our current seniors performed when they took the SAT in the spring of their junior year. Our current seniors scored a combined average of 1071 compared to the state average of 1034. We showed growth from the previous year when the total was 1040. You can see the individual breakdowns as well. Well done seniors!

The Community College System of New Hampshire is announcing a new scholarship program for students that will allow them to take up to 2 STEM related courses each year through Project Running Start free of charge. I have attached the information. Please contact our School Counseling Department if you have questions.

Also attached is the “Girls Rock the Capitol”. This is a unique legislative internship and mentoring program for high school girls.

Anyone wishing to remove their son/daughter’s name from any list given to the military should fill out the Opt Out form attached and return it to the School Counseling Department by September 28th.

Lynn Lyons will be speaking at our auditorium on Tuesday, September 26th from 6-8pm about anxiety. I encourage you and your child to attend.

Next Wednesday, September 20th, GHS has an early release. Students will be dismissed at 12:06 from the high school. Have a great weekend.
