Notification from: Gilford High School

Good Evening,

I like to give an inside look at classes so you can see how our staff is challenging our students to think critically and apply real-world solutions to obstacles. Last week, Hunter Murphy explained one of his classes. He stated that our robotics class was working on a submersible called the SeaPerch. These students split up into three groups and were given a specific task. The students explained that the robot works off of three thrusters; two of the thrusters make it move forward and backwards and the third thruster allows the thruster to move up and down. The robot’s motors have wax sealing so no water can get in. The controller was very simple consisting of two thumbsticks and two buttons on top that controlled the robot. The students built this from scratch. I was impressed because they were provided with a problem and had to collaborate to create this robot. Well done students!

Congratulations to the newest members of the GHS National Honor Society. Here’s a picture of our induction two weeks ago.

The Holiday Craft Fair is this Saturday from 9:00-3:00 at the middle and high school. Please come support our students and local crafters.

Here is our Angel Tree to support students around the district that I’ve been asked to forward.

I’ve attached an invitation for the Lakes Region Community College Open House on December 2nd.

Trimester one came and went and now trimester two starts Monday. There are only three weeks until a holiday long break. Have a great weekend.
