This is my 21st year as the school nurse at Gilford High School. I obtained my undergraduate nursing degree from Salve Regina (College) University, in Newport, RI in 1983. More recently, I earned my Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from New England College (Henniker, NH) in the Spring of 2011.
I have lived here in Gilford since 1985. My son, Tomm, is a graduate of GHS Class of 2000. He is currently living back here in Gilford and working at Patrick's as a chef.
My nursing experience includes being a staff nurse in a large teaching hospital in Ct. I also worked in a Family Practice office part time for 18 years. Currently I pick up shift work at the Taylor Community in the medical unit, working with the elderly, many who have dementia and Alzheimers Disease.
I am a big fan of the RedSox and UCONN basketball and I am involved in several local charities that impact kids. The Francoeur-Babcock Scholarship runs a basketball tourney every March and I have been a member of the board of directors since its inception in 1993. Three years ago I shaved my head for St. Baldrick's, raising $2400 (Event total was over $63,000!!) for pediatric cancer research. www.stbaldricks.org
This past June I traveled to Washington DC to meet our Reps regarding health care issues and advocated fore signing of the Carolyn Price Walker Act which in part establishes a national repository for bio specimens (tissue and organ donation) that will help improve the study and research of pediatric childhood cancer and diseases.
