16 - 17 Scholarship Information
Deadline: Received via mail by May 1, 2017. Award: variable. Graduating seniors who are enrolling in a Nursing program (CNA, LPN, LVN, RN) who have a B academic average or better for the latest marking period, or overall, and who meet ONE of the following are eligible: Be an active member of the Gilford Community Church; Be a graduating senior of a local Lakes Region High School (Gilford qualifies); or received a scholarship from them last year (those returning to college); or be actively enrolled in a Nursing career program (those returning to college.) Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.
Deadline: postmarked by April 21, 2017. Award: Variable. Two options: Senior eligibility includes the following: graduating seniors from Gilford High School who are legal residents of either Gilford or Gilmanton; in good standing in the GHS Performing Arts Program for at least two years one of which must be senior year; proof of enrollment in an institution of higher learning. Underclassman eligibility includes the following: underclassmen who wish to attend a summer music, theater camp, or musical trip; must follow the same application procedure as for the seniors; proof of acceptance into the music/theater camp/trip is required. Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office, or from Performing Arts Faculty.
Deadline: April 15, 2017. Award: Variable. Given in Memory of Cheryl Lynn Walsh, a former Gilford High School student who died in a tragic automobile accident on graduation day in 1988, at 17 years of age. Cheryl was an exceptional student, a very capable and humble endurance athlete, and a student leader. She was a sensitive and warm person and is missed by family, friends, and the Gilford community. Applicants must be graduating seniors who display the characteristics, promise, and aspirations of Cheryl Lynn Walsh. Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.
Deadline: March 31, 2017. Award: $1000. Applicants must be age 21 or older, who have been at least three years out of high school. Applicants must have either completed high school or have earned their Hiset certificate. Students must have been enrolled either full or part time in post secondary education for at least three years since high school. Given in memory of Janice H. McElroy, through the Rotary, to help non-traditional students in their journey for post secondary education. Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling Office.
Deadline: Received via mail by April 1, 2017. Award: $1000. Applicants must be graduating seniors who live in NH or within 10 miles of the border of NH, and who are pursuing an education in the field of craft related studies. The scholarship recipient may be asked to participate in an internship with the designer of the "living With Craft" exhibition in preparation for the Annual Craftsmen's Fair, which will provide an opportunity for exposure to a career in the craft field. Applications and information may be found online at nhcrafts.org, or can be picked up in the School Counseling Office.
Deadline: May 4, 2017. Award: 3 each at $1000. Graduating seniors from Gilford, Inter-lakes, and Laconia High schools may apply. This scholarship is given in memory of Dan Allard, who attended the Gilford Elementary and Gilford Middle schools before moving to Meredith and graduating from Inter-lakes in 1992. Dan developed and ultimately succumbed to his battle with addiction as a young man of nineteen. The purpose of the scholarship is to financially assist students of the Lakes Region with their endeavors toward post-secondary education. Please pick up application materials in the School Counseling office.

Applicants must have a B academic average (3.0) or better for the latest semester, or year, AND meet at least one of the following: Be an active member of Gilford Community Church; Be a graduating senior of Gilford High School; have received a scholarship from Gilford Community Church the previous year. Applicants must submit a COMPLETED application by the deadline - incomplete applications will be disqualified. Award criteria includes academics, extra-curricular activities, and an essay. Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.
Deadline:April 1, 2017. Award: $1000. Given in memory of Amy Annis, who lost her life to a four-year battle with breast cancer. Amy Annis was a tenacious athlete, creative student and a loyal friend. She participated on four sports teams during her time at Gilford High School. She was a member of the varsity softball and basketball teams, a member of Gilford’s first two volleyball state championship teams, and a member of the first girls’ club soccer team. After high school graduation, Amy attended UNH for two years before transferring to Suffolk University where she completed her undergraduate degree. Amy began her career in law working as paralegal for Howard Kahalas while pursuing her dream of becoming an attorney. In 2010, Amy graduated from the Massachusetts School of Law. Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.
Deadline: variable. Awards: variable (March 15-April1.) This is a scholarship site that houses many different scholarship opportunities that are offered to NH students. Graduating seniors who are anticipating going on to education of any kind, should look at this website.

Applicants must be graduating seniors from Gilford, Franklin, Laconia, Merrimack Valley, Newfound Regional, or Winnisquam Regional high schools, who are intending to continue their education after graduation. Selection criteria includes but is not limited to academics, extra-curricular activities, work experience, and financial need. Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.
