American Legion John A High Child Welfare Scholarship

Deadline: Received by May 1, 2019.  Award: $2000.  Candidates for this award shall be boys whose father or mother have been members of the American Legion or American Legion Auxillary continuously for three (3) years immediately preceding the date of application; or are the sons of a deceased veteran; AND who are in their senior year in high school and are in actual need of financial assistance.  Candidates must be entering the first year of a 4-year college or university leading to a Bachelor's Degree.  In addition to the application, candidates should also submit: two letters of recommendation: one from their high school principal and one from the clergy of the church which he attends; an original article written by the applicant consisting of not more than 300 words on the following "What this scholarship would mean to me."; and an official transcript.  Also a photo-copy of post, unit, or squadron membership card is required to be submitted with the application (Parent, Self, or Grandparent.)  Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office, or can be found at legionnh.org under the Scholarships and Awards link.
