Fisher Cats Scholarship

Deadline: May 4, 2018, at 5pm ET. Award: $2500 (10 each in NH). Applicants must be residents of NH (or MA) who are graduating from high school in 2018.  Applicants must be planning to attend a 4-year degree program, or a local community college or technical school in the fall of 2018.  Selection criteria includes academic performance, athletic achievement, and citizenship. Applicants need to go to www.nhscholars.org for more information as well as to register for an account used to apply.

Empire Beauty School Scholarship

Deadline: January 31, 2018.  Award: $5000.  Anyone interested in attending Empire Beauty School can submit a 30-60 second video explaining what drives your passion for a career as a Hair Designer and why you should win this scholarship toward your Cosmetology program at any of Empire Beauty School's four campuses across New Hampshire.  Please see Mrs. Camire in the School Counseling office for more details.

The Stockwell Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2018.  Award: variable.  Offered to graduating seniors who reside in the town of Gilmanton.  Applicants must also complete the standard Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation application in order to be considered.  All information and applications may be found at www.lrscholarship.org, or paper copies of the applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

Annalee Thorndike Art Competition

Form submission deadline: March 30, 2018. Artwork to be delivered on April 6, 2018.  Award: variable. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit (not financial need) of the student’s artwork as determined by our three-person panel of judges.  Graduating high school students, who are Lakes Region - Belknap County residents, and who will be attending college as art majors (or some related fields such as graphic design) are eligible to apply.  Students must submit a blended portfolio that is comprised of five (5) original works of art; drawings, paintings, collage and print forms and now they may also submit (but not exclusively) photography, digital art forms and 3D works. A personal sketchbook and an artist statement is also required. While not required, paintings may be framed or matted.  Artwork to be delivered to the Laconia Public Library on Friday, April 6, 2018.  Artwork to be exhibited from April 7th through April 12th, with a reception and announcement of winners to be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Laconia Public Library.  This competition is sponsored by the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, and if applicants wish to be considered for any further scholarships through them, they need to also complete the LRSF application.  Please visit www.lrscholarship.org for further information.  Entry forms for Annalee Thorndike Art Competition may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

NH Charitable Foundation

Deadline:  This OPENS on February 1, 2018 for 2 and 4 year college applicants.   4 year school deadline is April 13, 2018.  2 year school deadline is June 15, 2018. Technical School applicants have a rolling deadline and a paper application that is available anytime.  Award: Variable amounts.  Applicants must be residents of NH to apply for the many scholarships that this organization manages.  Applicants must be planning to attend either a technical training school, or a 2 or 4 year college for the school year 2018-2019.  Students should visit www.nhcf.org for much more information regarding different types of scholarships, and for the technical training application.  Students planning to attend 2 or 4 year colleges will apply through ScholarshipSource via the nhcf.org website.  Awards are based on financial need, academic merit, essays, and letters of recommendation.  See Mrs. Camire in the school counseling office with any questions.

Lakes Region Board of Realtors Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2018.  Award: $1500.  Applicants must be Gilford High School seniors who are planning to go on to post-secondary education of some kind.  Award is based on financial need, academic achievement, community service, and extra curricular activities.  Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.  Please submit a copy of your SAR from the FAFSA with this application.  Applications need to be returned to the School Counseling office.

Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation

Deadline: April 1, 2018. Award: variable.  Applicants must be graduating seniors from Gilford, Belmont, or Laconia High Schools, or legal residents of the towns of Gilford, Belmont, or Laconia. Applicants must be planning to attend college in the 2018-2019 school year.  This organization manages many scholarships and all applicants are considered for as many scholarships that are applicable to them.  Paper copies of the application and instructions may be picked up in the School Counseling office, or an on-line application and instructions can be found at www.lrscholarship.org.

Scholarships for Military Children

Deadline: Received by February 16, 2018. Award: variable, up to $2000.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: Must be a dependent, unmarried child under the age of 23, of an active duty/reserve/guard personnel and retired military members, OR survivors of service members who died while on active duty or survivors of individuals who died while receiving retired pay from the military.  Eligibility for this is determined using the DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System) database.  Applicants should ensure that they and their sponsor are currently enrolled in the DEERS database and have a current ID Card.  Applicants must also be enrolled or planning to enroll in the fall of 2018, in a full-time undergraduate program of studies leading to a Bachelor's Degree at an accredited US college or university.  Applicants must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Applicants attending a community college must be enrolled in a program of studies designed to allow them to transfer directly into a four-year program.  Applicants should read more at www.militaryscholar.org and can download an application through that site.  There are also paper copies in the School Counseling office.

Julia T. Pingree Scholarship: Business majors

Deadline: Postmarked by March 27, 2018.  Award: Variable amounts.  Applicants must be graduating seniors who are pursuing further education in a business-related program.  Applicants must also have had courses in specific classes to be eligible - see the application for a list of those classes.  Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

Skrungloo Farm, Inc., Scholarship Program

Deadline: postmarked by March 1, 2018.  Award: Variable amounts.  Applicants must reside in NH and be planning to enroll at an accredited post-secondary institution: vocational school, technical school, 2 or 4 year college or university; and be planning to attend at least on a half-time basis.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic merit, and other non-academic factors such as community service, school activities, and work experience.  All materials must be received by the deadline.  There are no exceptions for late or incomplete applications.  Applications may be picked up in the school counseling office.
