Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Postmarked by March 31, 2018.  Award: 2-3 national scholarships of $2500 each.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility guidelines: US Citizen or permanent resident of the US; unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or higher; will matriculate full-time at an accredited 4-year college or university within the fifty states or District of Columbia; demonstrated leadership abilities through community service or other extra-curricular activities; combined adjusted income of parents cannot exceed $50,000.  Applicant will need to submit the following: application; official transcript; financial document; high school senior picture; and an essay.  For complete scholarship information and an application, please go to www.jmscottmemorialfund.org.

NH Water Pollution Control Assoc. Student Scholarship

Deadline: postmarked by March 30, 2018.  Award: $1000.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: be a resident of NH; be a graduating high school senior; complete a standard application and submit it to the NHWPCA Scholarship committee; apply to a post-secondary school with an intended major in Water Pollution Control, Environmental Science, Engineering or Chemistry.  Priority is given to vocational students who are preparing for a field directly related to the water environment.  Preference is also given to NHWPC members and their families.  Applications are found at www.MHWPA.org and can be submitted through the mail, or via email to mcarle@town.hampton.nh.us.

Red Sox Service Scholarship

Deadline: emailed by January 12, 2018 no later than 5:00pm.  Applications received after this time/date will be considered ineligible.  Award: $1000 and entrance to a Red Sox game in the spring where they recognize all NH winners.  One Gilford High School student will receive this award.  Applicants must be seniors who are planning to attend either a 2-year or 4-year educational institution in fall of 2018.  Applicants must also have a B average in order to be eligible.  Award is based on scholarship, community service, and eligiblity for financial aid.  All applications MUST be submitted electronically as a pdf.  Google docs are not acceptable.  Please visit www.redsoxfoundation.org for more information, as well as the application.  Or pick up a paper application in the School Counseling office.

NH JCI Senate

Deadline: January 5, 2018.  Award: State winners receive $250 and two state winners get submitted to the National Contest, where the prize is $1000.  Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from NH, and also be U.S. citizens.  Applicants must be planning to continue their education at  an accredited post-secondary college, university, or vocational school.  Each application should be completed in its entirety and postmarked on or before January 5, 2018.  Each application will be screened based on content, scholastic ability, extracurricular activities, neatness, financial need, and correctly following directions.  Sadly very eligible students have been disqualified for not following directions.  Applications may be picked up in the school counseling office.

Nichols College NEPLA Scholarship

Deadline: December 1, 2017. Award: $18,000 per year, up to $72,000.  For students applying to Nichols College, who have a cumulative GPA of between 2.5-3.5; a combined SAT of 850 or higher; and good standing in their current high school in terms of behavior, attitude, and citizenship.  If students apply via commonapp before December 1, they may also be eligible for an "Early Acceptance" grant.  Please see Mrs. Camire in the School Counseling office for more details.

Skidmore College Porter Presidential Sci/Math & Filene Music Scholarships

Deadline: Application to college by January 15, 2018.  Each scholarship has other materials for submission.  Awards: Porter Presidential Science and Math: $15,000 per year, up to $60,000.  Filene Music: $10,000-$12,000 per year, up to $48,000.  Students do not need to major in either of these areas in order to receive these merit-based scholarships.  Applicants must meet Skidmore admission requirements.  Please visit skidmo.re/merit for more information about these two awards.

American Legion High School Oratorical Contest

This is an oratorical competition (speech competition) based on the United States Constitution.  A State Champion will receive $1500 upon competing in both the first and second round of the National Contest.  All District level competitions are held before February 25, 2018.  For more information about dates and details about the contest, visit http://www.legion.org/oratorical and for NH information visit http://www.legionnh.org/

Seton Hall University's Pirates Pitch competition

Deadline: October 18, 2017. Award: First place wins $2500 cash, as well as a $10,000 scholarship to attend Seton Hall University.  Second place wins $1000 cash and a $6000 scholarship to attend Seton Hall University.  All high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible to enter. University of Dayton Leadership in Service Scholarship

Deadline: November 1, 2017. Award: $10,000 ($2500 each for four years.)  Students who are applying to the University of Dayton are eligible to apply for this scholarship.  It is based on demonstration of an innate desire for personal development and commitment to service within the school, church, or community.  Interested students should see Mrs. Camire in the School Counseling office.
