Sigma Phi Epsilon UNH Balanced Man Scholarship

Deadline: Sept 1, 2018.  Award: $500.  This scholarship is for Male students entering UNH in the Fall of 2018 as Freshmen.  Sigma Phi Epsilon idealizes the philosophy of Balance, and in order for one to be successful in all aspects of life, one must do so with a Sound Mind in a Sound Body.  There is no obligation to join the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity before, during, or after the scholarship process.  Information and the application can be found at www.unhsigep.com.

NH Housing Authorities Corporation Romano & Kelley Memorial Grants

Deadline: Received from the local HOUSING AUTHORITY by JUNE 8, 2018.  Award: ranging from $500 to $1500.  Applicants must be high school seniors, or adults, who have received housing assistance for 12 months prior to the application deadline, and who are entering post-secondary education.  Applicants must submit their high school transcript, and a letter of recommendation, along with their application to their local Housing Authority.  The Housing Authority must then verify the applicant's housing status, write their own letter of recommendation and assemble the entire application packet.  They must then make 4 complete copies and submit all 4 copies by the June 8 deadline.  Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

Joseph T. Gnerre Memorial Music Scholarship

Deadline: May 1, 2018.  Award: Variable.  This scholarship was established by a mysterious "passing of the hat" at a secretly organized event involving more than 50 musicians, to pay honor to Joseph"Guiseppe" Gnerre Sr., in February of 1995.  Since then the Gnerre family has proudly awarded more than $48,000 in scholarship monies to deserving individuals from the Lakes Region area high schools who would be graduating high school and entering college with a major or minor in the field of music.  This scholarship is based on things such as your extra-curricular activities, academic merit, choice of major, and not based on need.  Applications may be picked up in the school counseling office.

American Legion Auxillary Ann Tracy Memorial Award

Deadline: Received by July 1, 2018.  Award: $500. Applicants must be in their senior year, or be a graduate of, an accredited high school.  Applicants must also be NH residents and be a direct relative of a person in the military.  In addition to the application, applicants must submit an original essay, not to exceed 1000 words, on "My Obligations as an American."  A transcript of grades must also be submitted.  Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

American Legion Post 1 Scholarships

Deadline: received by May 26, 2018.  Award: Six each for $800.  Applicants must be residents of Laconia or Gilford, or attend school there, or have a parent/grandparent who is a post 1 member.  Applicants must be planning to attend college on a full-time basis.  In addition to the application, applicants must also submit a short narrative on what this scholarship will mean to you as well as a transcript.  Applications must be mailed back to the address on the application.  Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

Virtual High School Scholarship

Deadline: postmarked by April 30, 2018.  Award: 1 at $1000, 2 at $500.  Applicants must be graduating seniors who are either enrolled currently and in good standing in a VHS course, or who have completed a VHS course successfully.  Applicants must also be planning to attend post-secondary education in the Fall of 2018.  Details can be found at vhslearning.org/scholarship-program-fy2018.

Gilford P.O.P.S Scholarship

Deadline: postmarked by April 21, 2018.  Award: variable.  Applicants must be graduating seniors from GHS who are legal residents of Gilford or Gilmanton.  Applicants must be in good standing with the GHS Performing Arts Program for at least two years, one of which must be the senior year.  Proof of enrollment in an institution of higher learning is required (upon acceptance of scholarship.)  Applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

NH Electric Co-op Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: Received by April 20, 2018.  Award: $1500, six each.  Applicants must be Co-op members (or be the child of a member) and be at least a graduating senior who is a NH resident and US citizen.  Applicants must be enrolled or planning to be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited educational institution for the Fall of 2018.  Please see www.nhec.com for more information and the application.  Click on the NHEC Scholarship which is found under the Community Tab of the website.

Berghahn Family Nursing Scholarship

Deadline: Received by May 1, 2018.  Award: Variable.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:  Be an active member of the Gilford Community Church; be graduating from a local Lakes Region High School (Gilford, Laconia, Inter-Lakes, Prospect Mtn, Winnisquam, etc.); be accepted into a nursing school and planning to attend full-time in the fall of 2018.  Or if a student has already graduated from a local Lakes Region high school and is currently enrolled in a nursing program and received a scholarship from us last year, they are also eligible.  Information and applications may be picked up in the School Counseling office.

Gilford Community Church Scholarship

Deadline: Received by May 1, 2018.  Award: Variable.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility guidelines: Be an active member of the Gilford Community Church; Be graduating from Gilford High School (or have graduated from Gilford High School and received a scholarship from GCC last year); and be enrolled in a full-time course of study of undergraduate study at an accredited college or university.  Information and applications may be picked up in the School Counseling Office.
