Career & College Readiness Info.

In the State of New Hampshire, work-based learning plays an integral role in workforce preparation. The goal of the School-to-Work initiative in New Hampshire is to prepare all students with the skills, abilities and knowledge necessary to make good career choices. Work based learning prepares our youth to become independent adults with opportunities for advanced education and career exploration, thus enhancing our economic strength. Schools and communities must work together in partnership to build a foundation of work-based learning and to provide the resources necessary to help all youth acquire the skills necessary to become independent and productive citizens.

Career Related Activities

Job Shadows
Students shadow a professional at a business for a few hours or half day. Students observe a career of interest and are able to ask questions about the training, skills and tasks associated with that career. See Ms. Laliberte to arrange.

Students can schedule an internship at a local business of interest. An internship has a set schedule each week and students participate in various functions within the business. Students are able to earn high school credit.  To explore local internships go to the Lakes Region Internship & Job Shadow Database or see Ms. Laliberte for options.

Speaker’s Bureau

Classroom teachers are connected with speakers who are directly related to the subject being taught. Speakers enhance a student’s learning by providing a “real-world” connection and possible career path for the subject area.

Career Cruising
A self-exploration and planning program that helps students achieve their potential in school, career and life. Students can explore careers, colleges, and take various interests inventories. *See Ms. Laliberte for the user name and password.
