The Environmental Club is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of Gilford High School and raising awareness of environmental sustainability issues throughout the Gilford and Gilmanton Communities.
Activities: We recycle throughout the school on a weekly basis, are involved in fundraising activities such as Craft Fair and Old Home Day, and promote environmental awareness through events such as Earth Week. Specific activities scheduled for the year are driven by the club membership. In the past, they have included attending environmentally minded conferences such as the Northeast Recycling Conference and St. Paul’s Conference on Environmental Sustainability, sponsoring guest speakers for school wide assemblies, and organizing musical events to promote environmental awareness. We also embrace projects that serve to improve our environment such as creating a green space in the courtyard area, and the care and enhancement of other landscaped areas around the campus.
Membership: All students in grades nine through twelve who have an interest in serving our school community in a environmentally proactive manner. Reliable participants who want to have a positive impact on our fragile planet are encouraged to join us.
Club Advisors: Mrs. Polly Rouhan
